poetry

Macrocosm

By Mandi Wright

I like walking alongside
busy streets and manic cars.
I like the way they
drown the thoughts off
replacing the bees of
tinnitus with rumbles to fill
the audio waves of nothing.

I like watching the
trains go by Burnside.
I like the way people are
riding along side of me
and I like them seeing me.
Even though now I accept
how I can't predict their
destinations.

I like the movement
around me I like that
I'll still get somewhere
and so will they--

even if tonight
doesn't gain
meaning even if
tonight is mundane.

I like finding
something out of
nothing.

I hope the cars and trains have too.
